7 uses for vinegar

They are so many great ways to use vinegar at home. Vinegar is well-known for its strong antibacterial properties. The active ingredient in vinegar is acetic acid. Acetic Acid is non-toxic and can help you fight against some common bacterias. For a natural and inexpensive disinfectant, stock up on vinegar.

1- Clean Laundry
When washing your clothes, mix vinegar with your detergent to soften and refresh them. You can also pour the vinegar directly in the softener compartment.

2-Clean Toys
My mind is at peace when I wash my kids’ toys with vinegar. This antimicrobial and versatile liquid is perfect to clean all the toys that end up in your kids’ mouth. I simply disinfect the toys with white vinegar and hot water and I rinse with cold water.

3-Wash Fruits and vegetables
For non-toxic cleaning of fruits and vegetables, simply add vinegar to water in a bowl and let it sit for some time. Vinegar will kill bacteria, mold, and break down any layer of wax. Rinse with cold water.

4-Clean Stainless Steel
Remove stains and marks from your stainless steel appliances by cleaning them with undiluted vinegar and polishing with a cloth. Using vinegar is known to be a very effective way to clean stainless steel appliances.

5-Remove calcium deposits from coffee makers
It is easy to get rid of calcium deposits on almost everything. Vinegar being acidic, can dissolve mineral deposits from your coffee maker. Fill your coffee machine with 2 cups vinegar, place a filter, and let it run for a cycle. Change the filter, add water, and run your machine for one or two cycles until you can’t smell the vinegar anymore. You can do almost the same for your single serve coffee maker. I fill my Keurig with vinegar, run it until the reservoir is almost empty and I let it sit for three hours before rinsing for two cycles. Check the instruction manual for your specific machine.

6-Boiling eggs
Add a little vinegar to the water when boiling eggs. If an egg cracks during the process the vinegar will help the egg white coagulate.

7-Kill weeds
Pour some vinegar and dish soap in  a spray bottle and vaporize weeds and unwanted grass. Reapply if neccessary. Annual weeds will be killed quickly but perennial weeds might need to be sprayed a few times.
