Christmas in July. The Flying Couponer

Who else wants Christmas in July?

Did you know Christmas in July is actually a thing? In Australia, December is the hottest time of the year. So, people in Australia can’t really get into the holiday spirit of Santa in the North pole, snow globes, and all that comes with a cool weather Christmas. Although Christmas in July doesn’t replace the real Christmas in December, it is added as a real holiday. Who else wants Christmas in July? Here’re some of the perks:

You get to Keep your Lights up: Just like the country singer says, “And I keep my Christmas lights on, on my front porch all year long.” Wouldn’t it be great to see Christmas lights in July? You wouldn’t have to put them up then 3-weeks later take them down.

You can Celebrate Outside: When you have a big family, Christmas in July sounds like a better option. When you have the oven on all day long than 50 people pile into a single family house, it can get hot and cramped. However, Christmas in July means everyone can head outside.

Travel is Safer: Traveling in December weather can make traveling dangerous. If we had Christmas in July, family members could travel without worrying about snow, ice, delays, or accidents. Christmas is about gathering with family, and we want them to all be safe.

No Black Friday Shopping: Seriously, we literally trample people the day after being thankful for what we already have. If were celebrating in July, think of how much more we could enjoy Thanksgiving with our families not rushing to beat the Black Friday crowds.

If we start celebrating in July, we could all switch to sandy Christmas on the beach traditions. I think it could be a lot of fun! What do you think?

I like doing it the other way around to Darlene, by escaping the oh so freezing cold winters here for some warmth and sunshine in Australia – I’m lucky I have a daughter living there 🙂
