Family Vacation: Las Vegas
Las Vegas may be known as the city of drinking and gambling, but it is really much more than that. Some people may be hesitant to take their children to Las Vegas, because they are afraid that they will be bored and have nothing to do, but that is definitely not the case. There are quite a few activities that families can enjoy together in this fantastic city.
There are many hotels that are family friendly in Las Vegas, Trump International Hotel & Tower and the Wyndham Grand Desert top the list. Anyone who is traveling with small children will love the extra free amenities at the Trump International Hotel & Tower. Guests can request cribs, bottle warmers, blankets, bibs, diapers and toiletries from housekeeping. Upon check in, they can also request children’s slippers, board games, books and toys. While the Wyndham doesn’t have quite as much, they do have a mini arcade, arts and crafts room and an activity room with a pool table and Xbox.
Families will find plenty to do while walking the Strip and many of the activities are free. The entire family will love the water show in front of the Bellagio and the gardens that change with the seasons inside. Over at the Flamingo, people can walk through 15 acres of their Wildlife Habitat. There are many different birds, including Chilean flamingos, pelicans, parrots and hummingbirds. Caesar’s Palace has a 50,000 gallon saltwater aquarium filled with all types of fish and sharks.
The Fall of Atlantis can also be found at Caesar’s Palace. This is an amazing fountain show that tells the story of the myth of Atlantis. The pirate show in front of Treasure Island is best when watched at night, because of the lights and fire during the performance.
Circus Circus is a place that every child will love. Inside there is a permanent circus, complete with the carnival midway. While the games cost money, all of the circus entertainment is free. Everyone will love watching the clowns, jugglers and the flying trapeze artists. The Adventuredome is also located at Circus Circus and it has the only indoor double loop, double corkscrew roller coaster in the world.
Animal lovers will want to visit the Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage. The entire family will love walking around and looking at the numerous lions and tigers. The white lions are absolutely beautiful. The dolphin habitat holds 2.5 million gallons of water and it is fun to watch the dolphins train and play. Visitors are also able to sign up to become a dolphin trainer for a day.
Of course, shopping is something that everyone loves and there are plenty of stores located on the Strip. One that the children will love is the M & M Store. There are always a lot of people dressed up as different characters on the Strip, especially at night, which is perfect for photo opportunities. Plus, there are always people performing or playing music on the Strip at night.
There is so much to do in Las Vegas as a family and none of it has to cost a lot of money. With a little planning, families should be able to plan many activities for each day of their trip. Plus, the pools at the hotels are all fabulous, so every family member will want to spend some time in the water and the sun.
