Cleaning with Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is pretty amazing stuff! Not only can you cook with it, you can clean with it too. This is just a short list of things you can accomplish when you use coconut oil as a natural cleaner.

Cleaning with Coconut Oil

Cleaning with Coconut Oil. The Flying Couponer.

Furniture Polish

Your wood furniture will shine like never before, when you clean it with the following mixture. Simply add 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1/4 cup melted coconut oil and 4 tablespoons distilled white vinegar to a spray bottle. Shake well. Spray on your furniture and wipe with a soft, clean cloth.

Stain Remover

Need to remove a nasty stain from your carpet or upholstery? No problem! Mix one part baking soda and one part coconut oil. Apply liberally to the stain, allowing the paste to sit for a few minutes. When you wipe it away, the stain should be gone. If it’s not, repeat the process.

Dust Prevention

Prevent dust build-up on hard to reach spots such as ceiling fans and high shelves, by coating the areas with coconut oil. Who knew?

Vehicle Cleaner

It’s super-simple to detail your vehicle with coconut oil. Rub it into the dashboard, leather seats, rubber seals, etc. You can even use it to polish your license plate and to totally remove old bumper stickers that typically refuse to budge.

Clean Brushes

This handy tip works for both hair and makeup brushes. Melt one cup of coconut oil, dipping the soiled brushes into the liquid. Wipe off the residue with a towel and then rinse with warm water. Allow brushes to dry completely, before using.

Now that you know a little bit more about coconut oil, there’s no better time to start using it as a safe and effective cleaner. Chances are, the more you use it… the more you wonder how you ever got along without it!

In my cleaning company we use a variety of different cleaning products. Some are commercial but we make some of our own using natural ingredients too. We’ve used coconut oil in our wood treatments but have never tried it on stains! We’ll have to give that a go, thanks for the tip 🙂
