If you wander how to get your kids in the garden you came to the right place. Gardening with kids is a very fun experience, as long as you can get them in the garden in the first place!

Let them start the seeds

Starting seeds early in your home will get your little ones interested right away. I don’t know any kids that doesn’t like planting seeds. It is also so much fun to plan ahead what you are going to grow this year. In addition, you can let them choose which flowers or vegetables they want to plant. My kids love flowers so much that  this year we are planting over a hundred of them, in every shapes and colours possible.

Get them to explore and dig holes in the soil

Once Spring comes, let your kids dig holes in the garden and decide where they want to grow their plants. Of course, before getting them outside, it is important to apply sun protection. I personally discovered the new Simply Protect® line this month. The Banana Boat® Simply Protect® Kids is without a doubt one of my favorite sunscreens for kids. It offers tear-free mineral-based protection with 25% fewer ingredients, no added fragrances and oils and provides Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection. It works wonderfully for us with its mild mineral-based formula designed for kids. The Banana Boat® Simply Protect® Kids is available in Spray SPF 50+ and in Lotion SPF 50+. After being all nicely protected against UVA/UVB, it is now time to dig holes in the garden. Getting dirty is really a fun part of gardening!

Make their garden a big deal

In order to get your kids in the garden, you should also make their garden a big deal. Talk about your kids garden often and how proud you are of it. Have them explore different scents and textures of plants and use this opportunity to teach them. Get them a set of kid-sized tools including a hat, gloves, and a watering can to start. Ultimately, the more attention you pay to the garden, the higher chance you will have to get your kids in the garden.

Get your Kids in the Garden

No matter how you get your kids in the garden, I’m sure that your hard work will be rewarded.  Don’t forget to put on sunscreen and make sure to check out Banana Boat Facebook page and to visit www.bananaboat.ca for more fun under the sun!
