Extreme Couponing or not by The Flying Couponer

Extreme Couponing isn’t as crazy as it may sound. You don’t need to be ready to shoot the next episode of Extreme Couponing on TLC to be an Extreme Couponer. You don’t have to let coupons dominate your life either. It is all about timing and holding on to your coupons until the items go on sale thereby maximizing your savings. That being said, it will not happen overnight. Extreme couponing is still a lot of work and you will have to be patient and organized. If you keep at it, you will soon have to stockpile your precious work and to rotate your stock.

Couponing can also be casual. I am currently a casual couponer because I am saving about $20 a week. I am proud of my savings but I don’t wait for rock bottom prices to buy items because I don’t have the time to look and wait for them. Some simple but effective ways to save money with casual couponing is to use some of the many apps now available to find coupons and do your research. I used to keep my flyers for the whole week with hope to price match but I don’t even touch them anymore. Haha! It is so easy to look quickly at the flyers online while waiting at the doctor’s office or during your coffee break.

I still enjoy couponing and saving money but I do it at a smaller scale. I downsized my binder from a few thousand coupons to a few hundred and I don’t have a stockpile anymore. I still believe that we should not pay full prize for anything but there are situations where there is just no way around it. Time is money, and energy is sometimes hard to find.

Are you Extreme Couponing or not? How much are you saving every week?

I am a casual couponer, but if I can combine a coupon and a sale it’s a great thing. Our town doesn’t seem to accept printed coupons this holds things back a lot.

It’s impossible in Canada to do exteme couponing. I was always amazed when I used to watch about this in the States on TV, no way can we do anything close to that here.

If I remembered to us my coupons, that would help! I always seem to forget to have them with me when I need them so I am definitely not extreme.
