Let me introduce you to “Safari” a beautiful young giraffe that was born on December 31, 2013 at African Lion Safari. “Safari”, named in honour of African Lion Safari’s 45th anniversary, is the first giraffe that has been born by artificial insemination in Canada. During our visit we saw her playing alongside her mother “Calgary” and the Rhinos, Zebras and Elands in the reserves.
Along the 9km of safari trail we saw lions, baboons, Ostriches, Kangaroos, Deers, Bisons, and so many other incredible animals. The Baboons were so funny to watch! They were everywhere, jumping from one car to another. We saw a lot of tiny Baboons being held by their mothers! So precious!
We also enjoyed the birds and animals performances; each showcasing their intelligence and natural abilities. The Birds of Prey Flying Demonstration was unbelievable. We were bracing each other as these gorgeous birds were flying right above our heads.
My children particularly enjoyed the “Nature Boy” Scenic Railway Tour. We traveled through this natural forest where we saw Turtles, Birds, Ducks and a Donkey. This historic train is pulled by a miniature replica of an 1863 C.P. Huntington Steam engine. We also took a cruise aboard the “African Queen” boat. Our guide pointed out exotic birds and primates around Water Safari Lake.
Even though summer is coming to an end, you can go wild until October! African Lion Safari is open daily May 3 to October 13.
African Lion Safari is a drive through wildlife farm that is home to over 1,000 exotic birds and animals that roam free in seven large Game Reserves. We were there just last week and loved it. It’s great how you can easily spend the entire day there. There’s so much to see and do. My kids didn’t want to leave. We’re so fortunate that this place exists fairly close to us (Toronto). We even drove through the game reserve TWICE. Once when we arrived and again before we left. Love your pictures btw – great close-up shots of the animals.
