The Paleo Vegetarian Diet The Flying Couponer

The Paleo Vegetarian Diet

A Guide for Weight Loss and Healthy Living
By Dena Harris

I have been reading about the Paleo diet and I am now confused about the title of this book, The Paleo Vegetarian Diet. The Paleo food pyramid clearly shows that vegetables and animal proteins are dominants. By removing animal proteins to make it vegetarian, can we still call this diet Paleo? In my opinion, mixing vegetarian and Paleo simply makes no sense.

According to Dena Harris, the author, eating a Paleo Vegetarian diet is possible.  She agrees that it might not make sense to everyone as it is like pairing two opposites. Have you heard of a vegetarian who mainly eats meat? Me neither. Meat eaters or not, it seems like many  vegetarians are showing interest in exploring the Paleo diet. The Paleo Vegetarian Diet is the first guide to open up the popular diet to vegetarians. In this book, you will learn why the Paleo diet can be the perfect fit for vegetarians looking to gain energy, shed pounds, and improve their health.

I really enjoyed Dena Harris’ sense of humour and her straight forward attitude. She sounds like she carefully checked her facts and won’t hesitate to use them to explain and defend her lifestyle to her mom ha ha! (Way to go Dena.) For an easy transition from a vegetarian diet to a primal diet, you must read The Paleo Vegetarian Diet. This book is filled with recipes, simple meal plans, shopping lists, and advice on getting the right mindset. The best thing about this book? There is no counting calories required!

“Paleo folks and vegetarian position themselves at opposite ends…We might not be ready for a group hug, but we’re getting there”.

The Paleo Vegetarian Diet A Guide for Weight Loss and Healthy Living By Dena Harris is published by Ulysses Press.

Yes, I find the use of the terms paleo and vegetarian together confusing as well. Maybe the author is able to explain things in her book.

This sounds like an interesting read. I wasn’t sure how vegetarian and paleo could be included in the same diet. I guess that it is possible based on this book.

I’m not a vegetarian but some of the meals do taste really good, which did surprise me. I once had a vegetarian lasagne and it was really, really good.
