5 Tips for traveling with your toddler

Vacations are such a great time, they’re perfect for bonding whether it is with your significant other, your friends, or a family member! Sometimes it can be difficult to get your baby or your toddler to cooperate with the traveling aspect of a vacation. They can become very restless no matter what form of traveling you are doing, car, bus, or even plane! Let’s face it, the kiddos are impatient and can sometimes get pretty cranky if they’re put in a situation that they don’t like. So here are 5 Tips for traveling with your toddler in hope to help you getting through the process without losing your mind!

1. Bring lots of entertainment: Bring their favorite toys, puzzles, coloring books, or even a tablet if they like to use it! Another thing I loved to do as a child traveling with my family was listen to music! Whether you listen to a CD player in the car or use your iPod player with headphones, this is a great way to pass the time for them and could even put them to sleep!

2. Choose your time wisely: If it is possible, try to attempt to travel at night. This way they are already tired and more prone to staying asleep throughout the traveling part and you won’t have to worry about them getting restless and the long hours won’t be so bad for them.

3. Stay Stocked on food and drinks: Make sure to keep a cooler or bag filled with their favorite snacks, drinks, and maybe even sandwiches or small meals. The less you have to stop because they are hungry or thirsty, the better. This way you will end up getting through the trip quicker without all the pit stops.

4. Keep them updated: Kids can be just as impatient and curious as adults. If you keep them updated throughout the trip they will be less likely to be cranky and upset about the traveling. For example, you can tell them that we only have this much time left and then we will be there!

5. Get them excited: Play up the trip and make it sound like this trip is going to be the best time of their lives! Tell them all about the activities and things that you are going to do and how much fun they are going to have. If they are excited about the trip, then chances are they will be more willing to wait.

I know that traveling can be very difficult with the little ones, but it is definitely possible! I hope these tips will help you to make your vacation a bit more relaxing and enjoyable, as it should be!
