Bird Kingdom Niagara Falls

When we first stepped in the Bird Kingdom we knew we were in a really special place. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and Chico, a magnificent Blue-and-Gold Macaw who adores dancing and singing.

We started our visit by following painted bird prints on the floor which guided us through our adventure. The bird prints brought us straight to the Explorer’s Base Camp where we got to hold and touch reptiles, birds, and parrots. What an incredible experience! Along the way we had the chance to see Toucans, Owls, Bats, reptiles, Tarantulas, Poison Dart Frogs, and many more animals.

Our favorite part of the adventure was to discover the main aviary. How georgeous! This incredible free-flying rainforest is home to more than 80 different species of birds. The main aviary features a magnificent 40-foot waterfall. It was absolutely breath taking to see all these colorful birds interacting with each other and trying to eat my shoes. Haha! Yes, I can tell you that some Victoria Crowned Pigeon with beautiful blue lace-like crests were really curious about us and were following us everywhere. This Golden Pheasant (Chinese Pheasant) showed off its deep orange feathers right before our eyes (see picture above). We also noticed this Silver Pheasant (see picture below) that really wanted to catch our attention. With its red face and legs, he was really hard to miss! What a gorgeous bird!

We even fed an Australian Rainbow Lorikeet with nectar cups. It was so amazing to have them land on us from everywhere. We also saw cute Mandarin Ducks and Ringed Teal ducks bathing in the water along with the fishes.

The Bird Kingdom, located in the touristic region of Niagara Falls, Ontario, is one of the largest indoor aviaries in the world. It is open 365 days a year. Visit the Bird Kingdom’s website and get ready for your visit!

Beautiful birds. We have never been to the Bird Kingdom, but the next we make a trip to Niagara Falls, we’ll make stop there. I think my kids would love it.
