I came across a phenomenal book called Buttercream Basics; Learn the Art of Buttercream Decorating from Carey Madden.
Buttercream Decorating: Learn from a Baker’s Mistakes
The first thing that strikes me after looking at the gorgeous photos, was the author’s revelations about her own mistakes. How fascinating to learn from a pro’s pitfalls! This book alone is a master piece, showcasing incredible creativity and Carey Madden’s love for butter and sugar. Ah!
Through out this book, Carey Madden will playfully walk you through all the steps involved in buttercream decorating and transform delicious ingredients into decorated pieces of art. This will eventually become super easy for you to do with a little practice and the Buttercream Decorating book. You can start by making simple projects and then work your way up to more elaborated designs once you start feeling confident.
Spellbound, Buttercream Basics; Learn the Art of Buttercream Decorating, page 70.
Full color throughout, this book offers you 35 projects to choose from. Soon you’ll be able to use Carey’s techniques and advice to create your own unique designs. Carey is quite simply extraordinary at decorating — she’s developed an entirely fresh, innovative and technically adept approach. Her cakes and cupcakes have been featured in Vogue and Mademoiselle and have been enjoyed by countless celebrities and gourmets.
I will certainly visit Carey in her custom cake bakery Violet next time I am in Philadelphia.
