I am not a doctor, but I can safely say that many of us are suffering or will be suffering from anxiety. There are many types of anxiety with multiple symptoms ranging from problems sleeping and heart palpitations to fear and shortness of breath. Whether you are aware of your anxiety or not, it is important to see a doctor and explain what you are experiencing. At 6 years old, I knew I was overly concerned with many things. Unfortunately, it took me a long time to realize that I was suffering from anxiety. I don’t remember hearing anything about anxiety until I was older. Thankfully, today I am fully aware of any anxiety symptoms that comes my way and I can easily control them. You can do it too, but only after you talk to your doctor, alright?
How To Control Your Anxiety
Here are my tips on how to control your anxiety. As we are all different, these tips might not work for everyone, but it’s worth a try.
Acknowledge the anxiety. To help diminish your level of anxiety, acknowledging it is important. Don’t try to fight your anxiety, accept it.
Be mindfull. Mindfullness is a conscientious activity that can help you be in the present moment. Focus completely on an easy task to keep your mind in the present. It can be watching TV for a minute or watching the wind blowing the trees for 30 seconds. Every little step counts.
Exercise. It is scientifically proven that exercise can help control anxiety. Go for a walk, a bike ride, or go work in your garden. It definitely works for me.
Set aside worry time. Do not attempt to solve all your problems at bed time. It just won’t work. Pick a specific time of the day where you are relaxed to revisit your worries for a few minutes.
Again, I am not a doctor. I care about you my readers, and all I want is to show you that it is possible to control your anxiety with a little bit of work daily. It’s like brushing your teeth every day, it takes some maintenance.
