How to save money to travel is one of the most common questions I get asked. The good news is that you don’t need tons of money to make it happen. All you need is to be realistic about your budget and your expectations.

How to Save Money to Travel

How to Save Money  to travel

In order to save money to travel, start by trying these tips and tricks savvy travelers and expats alike have all used to see more of the world without going broke.

Work abroad

Teaching opportunities definitely abound overseas. Why not jump right into one? Most schools pay for your airfare once you fulfill contract terms and give you a place to live. It’s a great way to experience a new country and culture and earn money to spend while doing it.

Boost your miles

Not ready to move away? Use your credit cards to collect airline miles. Do it smartly and you’ll be able to fly for cheap or even for free!

Travel off season

There are some truly incredible places you can go if you’re willing to visit during the off season. The hotels and resorts will all be much cheaper, making it easy for you to have all the luxury for less.

Choose other accommodations

Airfare and hotel stays are what eat up most travel budgets. If your budget is really tight, consider different types of lodging instead of a fancy hotel. Hostels are great for those on a budget and you’ll meet other interesting travels during your stay.

Be your own chef

In hostels, you can use the kitchen and cook for yourself. Therefore, you will save you gobs of money that you can use to have more experiences wherever you go.

Look for free tours

The best way to see a new city is to go on a tour, and you’ll find there are loads of freebies if your just look for them. Free walking tours are popular in just about every city. Just Google it! Also, you’ll find there are parks and other free recreation too.

Make a plan

Finally, if you start cutting out excessive luxuries in your life right now, like your daily coffee at the coffee shop on your way to work, you’ll start saving more for your trip. You could be off to Hawaii in the summer if you play your cards right! So trim your excess and save it for your amazingly awesome trip!
