How to Start a Plant-Based Diet

How to Start a Plant-Based Diet

Growing up I always had a preference for vegetables, fruits, and nuts over meat. My mother tried to get me to eat red meat and chicken but it was always a struggle. Today, I can (finally!) make my own choices and eat what I like. I have a flexible plant-based diet most of the time. I say most of the time because I believe in balance and I don’t want to restrict myself.

My level of energy has never been this good and I have to give credit to one of my favorite plant-based beverages, Silk! I recently discovered the new Silk Original Creamy Cashew and I have been drinking some every day since it came out on the market. What a delicious new plant-based beverage alternative! The Cashew flavor is deliciously creamy with only 60 calories per serving. It is free of dairy, gluten, soy, lactose, egg, casein, MSG, and artificial colours or flavours. It is also an excellent source of calcium and vitamin D.

How to Start a Plant-Based Diet Silk

If you would like more information on the new Silk Original Creamy Cashew, check out Silk’s website. You can also find great recipes ideas on their website. I will definitely try the Cashew Cornbread and the Creamy Cashew Smoothie. Yum!

If you would like to start eating a plant-based diet like mine, simply start with what is familiar to you and you will learn everything along the way. Maybe a good start would be trying to incorporate an extra portion of veggies at every meal. Worry about your protein intake? There are lots of plant-based foods with high protein content, just like the new Silk Original Creamy Cashew. It is not easy to make the transition but we can all do it.

Visit Silk Canada on Facebook and follow them on Twitter to learn more about healthy living.

Cheers!

I keep meaning to try the Silk Cashew, I use the Silk Almond in my smoothies all the time. I think next time I go shopping I will have to pick up a carton to try.
