 Stockpiling

Stockpiling and stockpile are probably my favorite words. Ha ha ha. I have a very interesting stockpile but probably not the biggest in the area as I enjoy giving them away.

For my fans that are new to couponing,  a stockpile is a pile or a storage location where you keep your groceries and other products that you have accumulated.  Stockpiling is a popular practice that can make you save you a lot of money and it is definitely a lot of fun. By using coupons strategically you can get the things you need at the lowest price possible and you will never pay full price again! The objective is to match your coupons to the weekly sale prices to try to get your groceries at the lowest price. When you get a match, it is time to stockpile!

You should purchase enough to last your family until the items can be purchased again at the lowest price possible. When purchasing items, keep in mind that almost everything has a shelf life and is only good for so long. The best way to keep up with shelf lives is to pay attention to expiration dates. It takes on average 3 months to build a stockpile. The first few months you will see an increase in your spending but once you start to use your stockpile, would will notice the savings.

With a large amount of groceries, you may wonder where you will store everything. To be honest with you, I still wonder the same thing. LOL. It can look very pretty to show off your hard work on shelves, but it is sometimes not possible to do. I personally store my stockpile where I need it, such as dish soap under the sink and can goods in the pantry. Fortunately, you can store your stockpile almost anywhere.

Very soon you will become more familiar with stockpiling and you will be saving hundreds of dollars a month! Happy Couponing!

It’s amazing how between couponing, stockpiling and waiting for a sale price how much money over a year you can really save. It’s so worth your time to plan your shopping out. Some people may call me frugal but I think it’s just smart shopping.

It’s definitely a job that requires a little organization. When I first started stockpiling to take advantage of the weekly deals there were some items I over bought without realizing it. For instance maybe soap was on sale one week and I bought 4 packages or so and then a few weeks later another deal on soap would come up so I would more and then a few weeks later same thing. I have an area where I store everything but I wasn’t keeping track of the items that where there. One day this designated areas got totally out of control so I decided to organize it and was astonished when I found 30 family packs of soap. I’ve learned now to keep a written record of my finds and scratch them off my list as I use them so I know what I have. This has helped me buy what I need without over buying. Deals are great but there is no need to stockpile 2-3 years worth of soap-hahahaha.

I love the idea to stockpile and save money. however, I always worried about expiration datas and not using the stockpile up before things go bad. has that ever been a problem for you?

I once had a nice stockpile of shower gel, soap, detergent, and a few other things. It’s dwindled down to about nothing now. Time to try and find some recent deals so I could do it again.
