Traveling During Winter.
Family travel during the winter months can be tough. The weather is unpredictable and can cause complications with any form of travel. If you ask me if you should take a road trip this winter I would probably say no.
But if you must, or want to take on the adventure, keep these things in mind:
Prepare the vehicle. Get a maintenance check and the oil changed. Clean the inside, you are going to be driving for a while with the possibility of getting stuck in heavy traffic from weather conditions. Stock up on supplies in your car. Pack a shovel, blankets, water, and snacks. If you happen to get stuck somewhere, you need to make sure that you have enough to stay warm and safe for at least a few hours.
Plan ahead. Plan your route, constantly check the weather, and plan alternates if your route is blocked or there is a large snow or ice storm there. Make sure that you have plenty of extra cash on hand in case you need to stay at a hotel. It’s much safer to stay put rather than risk getting into an accident.
If you would prefer to go somewhere warm, I would probably tag along. Ha!
When you are sitting in your house in the dead of winter under a blanket with your hot chocolate, just imagine going to somewhere like Miami, the sun shining, sandy beaches, swap that hot beverage for some iced lemonade. Many destinations are recommended for winter travel including Costa Rica, Bora Bora, Playa del Carmen, Key West, and of course, cruises are always fun! Cruises can include areas such as Hawaii, the Bahamas, South America, and the Caribbean. All very warm and welcoming areas sure to provide you with the perfect all-inclusive winter getaway.
Looking for cold outdoor adventures?
There are tons of colder areas such as Barcelona, Aspen, and Whistler if you are looking to travel in winter but stay in cooler temperatures. Mountainous areas are perfect for those who like outdoor winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding.
Traveling during winter can be a lot of fun! No matter where you choose to go in winter or how you choose to get there, don’t forget to pre-plan and stay safe!

Thanks for the tips! I would love to go to Bora Bora but with family cruises are the easiest! 🙂

My dream vacation is a road trip across Canada. During winter however, I would much rather chase the sun.
