Valentine’s Day Pom Poms #DIY
When I think about pom poms, it brings up exciting childhood memories. I would make pom poms for every occasion and especially for Valentine’s Day. They are such an easy and fun craft staple. All you need to get started is scissors, yarn, and imagination. There are so many ways to create these fun balls of yarn and I bet you will discover new ones along the way. The original way of creating pom poms is the traditional cardboard method.
Follow the steps below and let the fun begin.
1-Create a circle shape template using two pieces of cardboard. Cut a small round hole in the middle of each circle Cut them out and stack them on top of each other (see picture). If you would like to make a very large pom pom, you can adjust the size by making a bigger template.
2- Start at one end of the template and hold the yarn against the cardboard. Wrap the first round to secure the yarn and keep wrapping around until you get to the other end. Repeat again if you would like to create a really full pom pom.
3- Put a pair of scissors between the two cardboard circles and cut the yarn all around. Continue cutting until no loops are left.
4- Cut a piece of yarn and slide it between the two cardboard circles. Tie and knot the piece of yarn firmly and make another knot to secure the pom pom.
5- Remove the cardboard templates and give your pom pom an haircut! That’s the fun part! Trim it until it becomes fluffy and round
Now use your imagination and create different sizes and form of colorful pom poms. The possibilities are endless when you start to experiment with two or three different colors of yarn together. You can also try different methods to create pom poms, like using a fork or your fingers. If you leave long ends of thread hanging you will be able to form a loop or a garland.

I know you will think I am a sexist/chauvanist but I am not. Pom poms look the best when they are being flung around by cheerleaders while us football players pretend not to watch….but valentine’s is good too
