5 Things to Buy in August. Back to School and Saving Money. The Flying Couponer

I can’t believe that it is already August. Time is flying by and we are already thinking about going back to school. The good news is that there are many great opportunities to save a lot of money in August. Have a look at my 5 things to buy in August and let me know what you think.

Office and school supplies: The sales this month are all mostly about school. Several major retailers are kicking off the new school year by offering discounts on school essentials.  It is also a great time to replace expensive office equipment and small office supplies. If you know already what you will need this year, go ahead and stock up. If you are not sure what you will need, standby and try to resist these tempting sales as the prices will go even lower in September.

Clothes: It is now the perfect time to take advantage of the summer clearance sales. You can expect sales on swimwear, shorts, summer dresses, sandals and so much more. You will also find some retailers trying to attract you with their Fall collections including back to school outfits and styles. Retailers usually offer back-to-school sales and discounts for both children and parents.

Grills: Grilling season is still going strong but retailers are already trying to clear the floor for winter equipment like snow blowers, heaters and generators. Look for grills (and hotdogs) at the end of August for the discounted prices.

Patio furniture: You could not possibly find a better deal on patio furniture than now. When retailers look to liquidate their seasonal inventory, you could score as much as 60% to 90% off the original price. You might not get the exact color you were looking for but this is your only opportunity to score big savings on outdoor furniture.

Storage: Storage containers are an undeniable great buy this month. Many students and parents are trying to organize their stuff at home and on campus. It is one of the best times of the year to look for discounts on storage containers and home organization items.

I wish you all an amazing back to school time and greater-than-great savings. Happy shopping!
