Benefits of Raised Bed Gardens

A Raised Garden Bed is an elevated garden that is higher than the ground that it sits on. The soil is usually enclosed in frames or receptacles to keep it together.

Benefits of Raised Bed Gardens

Here is a list of 7 benefits of raised bed gardening.

1-More control over the location of the garden. You might not have a backyard but you can definitely have a garden. You can put your raised bed garden on your balcony, rooftop, etc. If you have a small one you could even bring your garden box with you if you move.

2-Better soil. Is you soil looks more like clay or sand? Instead of trying to work with poor soil, simply fill your raised bed garden with high-quality nutrient-rich garden soil.

3-More efficient draining. Excess water will be drained a lot better.

4-Easier on your back and knees. Raised-bed gardening can help reduce back and knee pain while gardening because you don’t have to bend over as far. Practical. They address issues of physical ability, like mobility.

5-Keeps weeds out. A raised bed garden being the above the soil, it creates a barrier between the ground and the soil in your bed. If you happen to get a few weeds, they will be easy to remove as the soil is not compacted.

6-Plant earlier. The soil warms up earlier in a raised bed, so you can plant earlier in Spring. A longer growing season is always welcome!

7-They look neat and organized. Don’t you think? You can make some pretty nice looking gardens with a little bit of creativity.

Happy gardening!

I have noticed lots of people with raised beds and I thought it was just because it would be easier to mow around, and maybe easier on the back. I never thought about the quality of soil. Great post. Hmmm, maybe I want a raised bed now!

I never thought of it in terms of soil quality but it would really benefit me. I live in an older home and the I know the soil isn’t the best quality. I love the idea of a raised bed garden that I can fill with the best, nutrient-rich soil.
