Craving Middle Eastern Food? Stop by Est. Tea. Can!
Disclosure: Gifted experience. All opinions are mine.
East. Tea. Can is located in Mississauga, Ontario. It is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. In fact, everything in the restaurant is authentic and very colorful.
From the front door and the floor tiles, to the handmade chairs and the wall art, everything comes together to create a vibrant and unique atmosphere. I truly felt that I was transported to the Middle East.
The colourful mosaic decorated brick oven caught our attention as soon as we walked in.
Tea and Coffee
We first ordered an Estikan of tea. I couldn’t wait to try this staple of Middle Eastern culture. Aromatic tea is a part of every occasion and a symbol of hospitality in the Middle East. I absolutely had to try their House Blend Black Tea. It was very delicious and full of flavors.
We also tried the Turkish coffee. It is not everyday that you get to taste such a delicious coffee. It was thick, bold, and bitter, exactly how I like my coffee.
Cold Mezze and Falafel
While sipping our tea and coffee, we decided to order the Dip Platter, which includes Hummus, Bummus, Dummus, and Mutabbal. The fusion of flavors was amazing! I can still smell the bread that accompanied the dips which came fresh from the brick oven.
Also, being a huge fan of Falafel, I had no choice but to try some. It was delicious! They were crunchy on the outside but fluffy and herby on the inside.
Mains
For the main course, we tried the Shish Tawook, the Mixed Grill, the Grilled Lamb Chops, and a brand new dish added recently to the menu – an Iraqi Kabab on Baba Ganoush. Good thing I was seated when I took my first bite, I was blown away by the rich flavors.
The Mixed Grill had a Iraqi Kabab skewer, a Tikka skewer and a Shish Tawook. I never had anything like it before. It was literally melting in my mouth.
All our meals were served with grilled vegetables, and a choice of fries, rice, or salad. The fries were really good and crispy. The rice was bursting with aromatic flavors.
Dessert
For dessert, we shared a Kunafeh, a large piece of sweet cheese topped with crispy Kunafeh. This was my first time eating a Kunafeh. Not only was it was very tasty but it was also really nice to look at.
The service was also outstanding, they took good care of us and answered all our questions.
I am craving for more Middle Eastern Food as I am writing this. You should definitely check out East. Tea. Can. Your whole family will love it. You might even see us there, we will definitely go back again soon.
