DIY Father’s Day Hammer We know that every father likes handmade gifts. In fact, they appreciate gifts that are practical and that can be put to good use. This Father’s Day, impress all the fathers in your life by offering them a gift from your heart! There are so many great DIY projects on my blog but this time I wanted to share something even more special-  the DIY Father’s Day  Hammer. So gather your children and your supplies, and get started now. It is a very simple project that should take you about an hour to make.

DIY Father’s Day Hammer

DIY Father’s Day Hammer Things that you will need: Wood handled hammer. You can find inexpensive ones at most hardware stores. Sand paper, medium or coarse grit Paint brush Marker Clear paint. I used DecoArt Triple Thick Gloss Glaze for this project. Wood burner, I have purchased this Wood Burner on Amazon and the Walnut Hollow Hotstamps Alphabet Set at the same time for other projects. Instructions: Start by sanding your wood handled hammer. Let your children use the marker to write a message directly on the hammer. DIY Father’s Day Hammer

While your kids are a safe distance away, heat up your wood burner and trace over the handwriting message to burn it into the handle. You might want to practice on a different piece of wood to test the wood burner out. Always make sure that only adults are using the wood burner because it is super hot. You can also decide to do this step once the kids are in bed. DIY Father’s Day Hammer

Once the message on the wood handled hammer are burned, apply a clear coat of paint to cover the whole handle. Let it dry and voila! You’ve got your unique father’s day gift that will surprised the whole family. If you prefer not to use a wood burner, you can definitely skip it. Simply sand the handle, get your children to write their messages and apply a clear coat of paint. You definitely don’t need to spend a lot of money or a lot time to make the perfect father’s day gift. Happy Father’s Day!
