DIY Skin and Hair Care Recipes

I am fairly certain that most of you have been trying or thinking about making your own skin and hair care products. I definitely have tried to make several homemade concoctions for all sorts of body parts over the years. Ha! Well, well, well, look what I just reviewed for you.

The Best Natural Homemade Skin & Hair Care Products book landed at my front door a few weeks ago and I had the opportunity to try many different recipes since. I believe that this book will help you discover and create skin-care and hair-care formulas that are just right for you. These simple and easy to follow recipes are designed to treat any type of skin. I love that these recipes feature a wide range of therapeutic oils, including flaxseed, baobab, and argan oils.

With these oils and other natural ingredients, you will be able to formulate effective and soothing creams, body scrubs, balms, masks, shampoos, and more. Some of my favourite formulas included in this book are the Flaxseed Cracked-Skin Ointement, the Baobab Exfoliating Scrub, the Hemp Seed Moisturizing Face Cream, the Argan Hand Cream, and the Baobab and Chamomile Shampoo. These DIY Skin and Hair Care Recipes are super effective and are so soothing. You will love creating your own recipes right from your kitchen!

My favourite Tips from the author:

Every three months or so, make sure to try a different recipe including different oils. The skin can get used to one formula and it won’t have the same effectiveness after a while.

Before starting to prepare your formulas, wipe your equipment with some rubbing alcohol and use paper towel to dry it off.

Excess homemade products can be stored in the refrigerator to make them last longer.

At one point in my life, I made my own soaps but kind of got out of it. But I really enjoyed experimenting with different oils and scents. It was nice to know exactly what was in the soaps that I was using on my skin.

Sounds like a good book, we deal with issues in this house to chemical/scent allergies so making some of our own products may be one way to help deal with those.

Lovely , always good to go home-made because then you can control what goes into it!

When I was younger I used to make soap, lip balm and bath balms. I would love to know how to make scrubs and shampoo! This is a great way to control the ingredients too in case of allergies. I’m often allergic to the chemicals in traditional products so homemade is the way to go!

Oh wow, this sounds like a book I really need to pick up. I’d love to make my own skin care recipes. I suffer from really dry skin, especially in the Winter months. It would be great to know exactly what is going into the lotions and moisturizers.

I so love the smells of essential oils. The true scent is far better than the artificial scents to buy.

Sounds like a very interesting book. At least this way you know exactly what each contains 🙂
