Family Vacation Ideas: Sherkston Shores Resort
We were looking into family vacation ideas to relax this summer when Sherkston Shores Resort reached out to us. Saying that we were all very excited is an understatement. We could not believe that we were going to stay in a beautiful cottage right near the beach.
Cottage
We stayed in one of the cozy 2 bedroom rental cottages completely furnished with a couch, a kitchen with full-sized appliances, two televisions, a dining table, pots and pans, dishes, utensils, and a Keurig machine. Loved the coffee!
Making meals every day was very easy and a great way to save money. We bought bread, milk, eggs, hotdogs, marshmallows, and other items at a Walmart near by to prepare our meals. One of the kids’ favourite thing to do while at the cottage was to make Smores and roast hotdogs in the fire pit while watching the stars. We even saw some shooting stars during the Perseid meteor shower.
Resort
Sherkston Shores Resort was a lot of fun. There were so many activities to do for the whole family. We enjoyed the pools, the waterpark, the mini-golf, the rock wall, the archery, and the beaches. The kids even play ping pong and chess with a giant set!
We drove around the resort on a golf cart that we rented on site. It was definitely the best way to get around and to explore all the beaches. In the resort, there is also a Boston Pizza, a coffee shop, and a convenience store where we bought fire wood and other necessities.
Beaches
There are several beaches along the shores of Lake Erie and we decided to explore every single one. It was unanimous among us that Elco Beach and its sand dunes was our favourite. Elco Beach sand is soft and golden, waves were small, and the water is warm. It was so nice to relax and build sand castles. The sand dunes are absolutely spectacular and a lot of fun to explore.
If you are looking for the best family vacation ideas, I strongly suggest that you consider staying at Sherkston Shores Resort. It is a lot of fun for the whole family and it is just 90 minutes away from the Greater Toronto Area. We will definitely go back next year!
