Manage your Arthritis by eating Maple Ginger Salmon
Arthritis is a very common condition that affects so many people. This is why I was looking forward to reading The Complete Arthritis Health & Diet Guide by Kim Arrey and Dr. Micheal R. Starr. I have always referred to arthritis as one disease so I was surprised to learn that there are actually more that 100 different types of arthritis. The treatments might be different but they all have the same goal- to reduce pain and control inflammation to improve your quality of life. The focus of The Complete Arthritis Health & Diet Guide is about using nutrition to manage arthritis. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can play a very important role in the management of the disease.
The first part of the book provides so much information on the symptoms, causes and diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, focusing on how people with rheumatoid arthritis can reduce inflammation. The information is also very helpful for those who suffer from osteoarthritis. The second part of the book features delicious recipes and a guide to foods that will help reduce inflammation. You will also find helpful tips on how to make grocery shopping and cooking easier for you and your whole family.
If you are trying to improving your general health, I suggest that you try to manage your Arthritis by eating Maple Ginger Salmon. Hehe! You should give it a try. You can find this beautiful recipe on page 273 of The Complete Arthritis Health & Diet Guide.
Maple Ginger Salmon
Here’s a North American twist on an Asian classic. Maple syrup has fewer calories than the same amount of honey and contains the minerals manganese and zinc.
Makes 4 servings
• Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C)
• Rimmed baking sheet, lined with foil
4 skinless salmon fillets
1⁄4 cup pure maple syrup 60 mL
2 tbsp rice vinegar 30 mL
1 tsp finely grated gingerroot 5 mL
1. Place salmon on prepared baking sheet.
2. In a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup, vinegar and ginger. Pour over fillets.
3. Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until fish is opaque and flakes easily when tested with a fork.
