Psoas Strength and Flexibility
You probably don’t know that you have a psoas until it starts hurting. That is exactly how I discovered mine a few years ago. For over 20 years I have been hitting the gym and enjoying every minute of it. I was always looking to try the latest equipment and the newest workout routine. Unfortunately, my psoas was completely going unnoticed as I didn’t even know it ever existed. After doing some research I found out that the psoas is a part of a larger muscle group called the hip flexors.
Even though you can’t see your psoas muscle, it is at the center of your daily movement. Standing, walking, running, climbing the stairs, cycling, and even sitting up and down, are all movements that involve your psoas. Do you see where I am going with this? If you start to have problems with your psoas, it will affect your whole life and everyone in your family.
Please, if you suspect that you might have a problem with your hip flexors, just go straight to your doctor. You can always read this post later.
Before it starts to interfere with your daily life, I strongly suggest that you read this beautiful book to maintain a healthy psoas. Psoas Strength and Flexibility, Core Workouts to Increase Mobility, Reduce Injuries and End Back Pain by Pamela Ellgen is filled with information that we should all know. This book is a detailed guide about preventing hip and back injuries by strengthening the muscles connecting the upper and lower body. Illustrated with step-by-step photographs, Psoas Strength and Flexibility will help you understand the common injuries caused by a weak psoas muscle and show you how to strengthen, stretch, and maintain a healthy body.
Psoas Strength and Flexibility by Pamela Ellgen is published by Ulysses Press.

My back and hip hurt so bad just standing let alone walking, my last day of work two people had to help me out to my car, think I’m going to ask my doctor about this, all I have ever been told nothing can be done, it’s severe arthritis, ugh

Thank you so much for sharing this information! I think your blog post on this will definitely help others who may have it, but don’t know about it.

My hip used to hurt every time after I ran. I was lucky enough to correct that with wearing the proper shoes.
