Road Trip: Ohio
Road trips are one of my favorite forms of travel because it so easy to just get in the car and drive away. I am always looking forward my next road trip and I have recently learned that Ohio is a great place to take road trips. There are various stops and so many different attractions in various cities throughout the state. Here are a few key cities and their most popular attractions to make your road trip as busy and fun as it possibly can be.
Cincinnati
Cincinnati, located in the southern part of Ohio is home to so many great restaurants that serve absolutely delicious meals. There are many things to do in Cincinnati, including these three attractions:
Kings Island: Kings Island is the popular Amusement Park located in Mason, Ohio. There is something for everyone there, whether you love HUGE thrilling coasters, or laid back simple rides. There is a kiddie land for the little ones and also a really fun built-in Water Park.
The Zoo: Cincinnati has one of the top 10 best Zoos in America! They have so many gorgeous animals, a 3D Theatre and lots of fun things. During the Winter, The Zoo hosts what is called the “Festival of Lights” where they have a ton of Christmas Lights hung everywhere. It is such a beautiful place!
Newport On The Levee: Newport is not technically in Cincinnati, but it is right over the bridge from Cincinnati, in Kentucky. It is still a really accessible place to go while you’re in Cincinnati. They have a lot of nice restaurants, an arcade, and a movie theater.
Sandusky
Sandusky is located in Northern Ohio, very close to Lake Erie! There are many places to shop and eat locally all while having a fun-filled day with the family!
Cedar Point: Cedar Point is another amusement park, similar to Kings Island. You will experience a whole new world of Roller Coaster and thrilling rides at Cedar Point Amusement Park.
African Safari Wildlife Park: The African Safari Wildlife Park is located in Port Clinton, a neighboring City to Sandusky. It is a fun drive-thru zoo where you can feed the animals carrots and oats. I love that the animals can just walk right up to your car! They also offer a small walk through option as well!
Put in Bay
Put in Bay is a vacation all on its own! It is filled with beaches, amusement rides, restaurants, and so much more. You can do things like visit the Chocolate Museum and the Amusement Center, and even go ride in boats or jet skis. It is Ohio’s very own island getaway.
Columbus
German Village: German Village is located in Columbus, you can shop, dine and learn all about the history while strolling through this historic village!
The Ohio State Fair: The Ohio State Fair is located, of course, in the Capital of Ohio! This is a fair that is held in the Summer every year. It is filled with so many games, rides, and all the food you can think of!
Ohio is filled with so many things to do and sites to see all throughout the Summer! It really is an amazing state to travel through and you are bound to have a really great time! So pack your car and your family and go on a Ohio road trip! You will have a wonderful time!

Well what can I say…..I cannot say enough about OHIO!! As it is MY home state and yes I miss it. Although I love it here in Canada, my family are all back in Ohio. And I do try to get there once a year…All these places you mention I have been to and they are lots and lots of fun and interesting places to visit. I may say one thing about places to see and do in Ohio….ifanyone ever happens to get to Ohio near Circleville, just 35 min drive south of Columbus on RT 23 South, starting on the 3 rd. Wednesday of October starts our biggest FREE show on earth, The Circleville Pumpkin Show. There is food, rides, entertainment exhibits, vendors, and parades every night… Everything you can imagine made from pumpkins, pumpkin waffles, pumpkin burgers, pumpkin fudge, you name it. It is a fun show for all ages and is in the heart of downtown Circleville. Be prepared for lots of traffic in or out of town as the whole downtown is blocked off 4 blocks wide, North, South, East and West., in the city for this big event. So if you go…check out this official web site before hand and you will have all the info you need…..
