String Art Christmas Crafts Instructions

Step -1: Prepping your Cardstock Paper

Prepare a piece of cardstock paper for the craft and print out the template. The template has 4 different sizes for the tree pattern, cut out the pattern you want. Use a pencil to trace the tree pattern on the cardstock paper.

Step -2: Poking Holes

Use a needle to poke holes along the traced outline of the Christmas tree. Make sure to keep even distance between the holes.

Prepare thread and needle as well. Tie a knot at the open end of the thread (or yarn).

Step – 3: Start Stitching

Insert the needle through any one of the corner holes on the cardstock. Draw the needle from the backside of the cardstock and bring it to the front side.

Pull the needle all the way through. You can go for a random pattern by drawing the needle through the poked holes.

Step – 4: Stitching the Borderlines

I stitched the borderlines of the Christmas tree first; makes the stitching easier this way.

Step – 5: Filling the Pattern

Once you’ve stitched the outer lines (border) of the tree pattern, then you can stitch and fill the pattern by simply going through random holes.

Step – 6: Tying a Knot

Once you are satisfied with the pattern filling, then you can draw the needle to the backside of the cardstock paper and tie a knot or two.  Cut off extra thread.

Step – 7: Decorating your String Art Christmas Crafts

You can keep the string art as it is or you can also use different kinds of craft decor materials to decorate the tree. You can use sequins, pompoms or beads to decorate the string art tree.

We also adore this Christmas Tree String Art project from Mommy Made That. We love that it is made with small nails. It is so cute and such a fun way to decorate your home for Christmas.
