Why You Should Doodle

Why You Should Doodle?

Have you noticed all the doodles everywhere? Doodles have never been this popular with the latest coloring pages for adults craze. They are so many different kinds of doodles, including patterns, cartoons, animals, foods, words, shapes, and countless more.

A doodle is a drawing created while someone’s mind is occupied somewhere else. Remember being in High school and drawing on your note book during a boring class? We all did it. Before the doodle made it to my top trend list of the year, typical examples could be found in art galleries and in your children’s bedrooms.

Doodles can pretty much be anything, from concrete images to abstract masterpieces. It is such a fun way to pass the time and to focus on the moment. Doodling is a great way of expressing yourself while practicing mindfulness. This is exactly why you should doodle. How relaxing! A doodle can also tell you a lot about someone- how they feel, what they are thinking about, and their personality. Doodling is an uninhibited form of self-expression and is to me, a really serious form of art. It makes me happy to create them and to color them afterwards.

So the next time you see some scribbles make sure to take a moment to interpret them. You could be surprised! To print my doodle pages, simply click on their names and a PDF file will open. You can colour them and also try to make your own doodles by following mine. I created these fun pages by hand using Illustrator and a Wacom tablet. I told you, it’s serious business for me. Ah! Enjoy!

I invested in some fine tip markers & pens and bought myself a couple adult colouring books to use with the kids. It’s a great way to unwind & spend some time at the table talking to them while we colour our pictures. I haven’t doodled for a long time but I will see what comes to mind next time I pull out the pens!
